Photo Of The Day: December 2, 2008

Day's Cottages are a series of tiny cottages lined up along Cape Cod Bay in North Truro, MA. This group of several identical white and green cottages have been a landmark and artists' favorite since they were built in 1931. Because each one looks like the other, a lot of their appeal is the repetitive look of multiple cottages lined up along Route 6A on Cape Cod. That's what you see in photographs and paintings, year after year. So I decided to do something completely different when I saw them this past weekend: focus instead on just one individual cottage. It worked well, as seen below, particularly because I had the advantage of a beautiful sky as the end of the day neared. For more pictures of Cape Cod, visit Paul Scharff Photography.com.
