Photo Of The Day: June 5, 2008

My brother-in-law is a Ph.D marine scientist who does field research around the world. So he's familiar with Woods Hole, MA, where he has managed research projects in conjunction with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. So I knew just who to ask when I wondered which building this was in Woods Hole. He immediately recognized it as the old Candle House building. Built in 1836, it was built to store whale oil and make spermaceti candles. You can see this photo and learn more about it in my new book about Cape Cod for sale here or here.
