Photo Of The Day: June 22, 2008

In the midst of one of Coral Gables' residential neighborhoods is a special swimming place called the Venetian Pool. Perhaps the only swimming pool anywhere to be included in the National Register of Historic Places, the Venetian Pool is fed by underground artesian wells. Once a quarry pit, its only value was the limestone it produced for the construction in the early 1920s. In 1924, it was transformed into what it is today, where over one hundred thousand visitors a year come to visit.
