Photo Of The Day: August 1, 2008

New York City is full of interesting things to look at. And some of them are completely impromptu, whether it's people or things. Last year I was riding in a cab down Fifth Avenue when we came to a traffic light at 34th Street. An M5 bus was to my right, and I noticed that its all-windowed side was reflecting some flags of an opposite building in a wonderfully abstract, yet readable way. The flags were from The Graduate Center, which is the doctorate-granting institution of The City University of New York. So I pulled out the camera with one hand while lowering the window on the other, and grabbed this shot, just before the light changed and the bus pulled away. For more pictures of New York City, visit Paul Scharff Photography.com.
