Photo Of The Day: July 17, 2008

Manhattan is filled with so many streets and tall buildings, that it's hard to get a nice sunrise or sunset shot unless you go to the edges of the island. That is, except for just a few days a year when the angle of the sun happens to align perfectly with the angle of the streets. That's what happened recently when the sun set directly along 34th Street. To make it even better, a five-minute downpour just minutes before made the road surface wet, creating a wonderfully colorful reflection. And of course, I had no compunction standing right in the middle of the street, dodging cars, delivery trucks, people and taxis until I could capture the shot that showed the street in its wide-open, reflective glory.
