I just learned that The Helmsley Park Lane Hotel is going to be sold. It's an old, stately hotel right on Central Park in New York City. Several months ago I had the pleasure of having dinner there, and when I left, I stood in front of the hotel for over half an hour to find the one moment when there was no traffic - people or automobiles - to capture its quiet, elegant glory.
