Photo Of The Day: December 22, 2008
The Christmas Cactus is a succulent perennial that flowers around the holidays. A mechanism called photoperiodism causes the plant to flower in response to longer periods of darkness. It certainly works like clockwork for my plant, and being a photographer, I decided to get up close and personal with the flower itself. I found that it created a wonderful, almost abstract, design of color and form, as seen here. For more pictures of flowers, visit Paul Scharff Photography.com.
